Venue

Founded in 2012 as a research centre of the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) has developed into an internationally recognised centre with scientists from many nations working across disciplines. From 2024 onward, core funding has transitioned to support from the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia, alongside its partner universities and research institutions.

Mission

  • To understand the biodiversity of life on Earth in its complexity, functions, and interactions with people; 
  • To develop scientific knowledge for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, together with the international scientific community and society;
  • To advance the field of integrative biodiversity research, through scholarly contributions, education, capacity building, and the promotion of early-career researchers. 

Directions

From Halle/Leipzig (LEJ) Airport to iDiv: 
Take the suburban train S5 or S5X and get off at “Leipzig MDR”, have a 12-minute walk to iDiv

From Leipzig Main Station to iDiv: 
Take tram 16 towards “Lößnig” and get off after 7 stops at “An den Tierkliniken”. iDiv is across the street.  

From the city centre to iDiv:
Take tram 16 direction “Lößnig” from “Hauptbahnhof”, “Augustusplatz” or “Roßplatz” and get off at “An den Tierkliniken”. iDiv is just across the street.
