Description
Journals and funders increasingly require researchers to publish all outputs of their work, given the essential role in impactful and reproducible science. For data and code in particular, the effectiveness of publishing these materials depends greatly on their quality, which is heavily influenced by its documentation. At iDiv, researchers can publish data and code at the iDiv Data Portal, a curated repository of public datasets related to iDiv research. Our datasets have been downloaded thousands of times in recent years, making the portal one of the main channels for disseminating knowledge produced at iDiv.
In this poster, I will show how the iDiv Data Portal and the Data, Stats & Code Unit (DSC) can help increase the reach and impact of your research. I detail how curation works and improves your data and code through the simple act of having a fresh set of informed eyes reviewing it before the critical phase of article publication. I will also show how, through the BEXIS management system, curated datasets are assigned DOIs and usage licenses, ensuring researchers receive appropriate credit for their work. Dataset versioning further supports good scientific practice by allowing datasets to evolve transparently over time. Together, these features support the production of FAIR-compliant, Open, and reproducible research at iDiv.
