Guided Tour Herbarium Haussknecht

The Herbarium Haussknecht in Jena is one of the most significant botanical collections in Europe, housing around 3.5 million plant specimens from all over the world. It was founded in 1896 by the botanist Carl Haussknecht as a pioneering private collection that was already open to scientific use and public interest. Today, the herbarium is part of the Institute for Systematic Botany at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and continues to be a major center for botanical research. Its collections have grown continuously over more than a century and include important historical herbaria and a rich specialist library.
A visit offers a rare glimpse into a living archive of global plant diversity and centuries of botanical discovery.

The Pau Hana will take place in the Botanical Garden and offers an informal opportunity to relax and connect with fellow participants of the iDiv Community at the end of the first conference day. Drinks will be available for purchase. In addition, a selection of light snacks will be provided, so you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere, before heading to your dinner plans or back home.
